Maryborough local Cam McClure just missed out on his first taste of bowling to an international batting lineup, selected as 12th man for a recent two-day game against Pakistan.

With Pakistan currently touring the country as they battle out their three-game series with Australia, the team used their break between the first game in Perth and the current Boxing Day Test to get some game time into their squad.

As a result, they hurriedly organised a two-day game with Victoria which was played at the Citipower Centre, with McClure named in the squad.

McClure, however, was the unlucky omission in what was a strong Victorian side which included opener Marcus Harris, who put forward his Test ambition with a superb 126, Will Pucovski and Peter Handscomb.

The game ended with Pakistan making 323 in their first innings, while Victoria declared at 4/272 during the second day, before leaving Pakistan at 3/57 at the close of play.
