Cam McClure’s return to the Sheffield Shield saw him take a wicket for Victoria in their clash against Western Australia, which looked set to end in a draw at the time of production.
McClure had to work hard for his wicket, with the pitch at the CitiPower Centre proving to be a batsman’s paradise, with Cameron Bancroft making 100 in Western Australia’s first innings, while Peter Handscomb was the star of the show in Victoria’s first innings, scoring a double hundred, with Marcus Harris and Sam Harper also tonning up at the time of production.
McClure, however, bowled quite well, conceding 53 runs from his 23 overs at an economical rate of 2.3 runs an over, including five maidens.
His sole wicket came when Corey Rocchiccioli, looking for quick runs, top edged a ball to wicketkeeper Sam Harper, going out for 27.
It was McClure’s third wicket at Shield level, having taken two wickets on debut in March, also against the Western Australians.
