Maryborough Masonic Lodge will open its doors for the Trumpet Harmony recital today, Tuesday, November 12, featuring James who is currently back in Australia after completing his Masters of Music Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he received the Robert McCreath Prize.

Grandson of Bob and Val Earl, James in September had the honour of being principal trumpet in the ensemble that premiered Fanfare for the 25th Anniversary of the Scottish Parliament by composer John Wallace as the Royal couple processed into the chamber.

James has been a casual member of the trumpet section of Royal Scottish National Orchestra while also studying in Glasgow, was the featured brass soloist on BBC TV Scotland’s Reflections from the Quay program at Easter, and has toured to Finland and Malta and performed across Britain.

The musical evening will raise funds for Freemasons Foundation Victoria to assist its support of secondary and tertiary students through annual scholarships. James was recipient of the foundation’s Dr Robin Gray Music Scholarship in 2018 while studying at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.

James, a former member of the Australian Youth Orchestra, will be returning to Britain to continue his career early next year.

Trumpet Harmony will be at the Maryborough Masonic Lodge, Havelock Street, starting at 8 pm tonight with admission by donation.
