The weekend’s Nissan Nightmoves event in Heathcote is set to have a bit of Maryborough flavour in it, with Nick Rossi and Jim Dewar set to compete.
Rossi and Dewar will be competing in their 1974 Toyota Corolla TE37, which has been adorned with support from Maryborough Toyota for the event.
Rossi is grateful that Maryborough Toyota have jumped on board.
“Carl Spencer and the Mary-borough Toyota team are great and always willing to help out. Colin Govan in service is always willing to source out the genuine spare parts for the car as well,” he said.
“We’re looking forward to it, and we’re appreciative of Maryborough Toyota’s support.”
On top of that, the livery that is being run by the duo is a tribute to a design that featured in a rally in the United Kingdom in the 1970s.
Rossi says the livery, as well as Castrol’s traditional support of Toyota, which harks back to the 1990s, made this an ideal tribute livery for the event.
“This is a livery inspired by a privateer who ran alongside the Toyota works team in 1977 in the RAC rally in the United Kingdom, which is a famous rally synonymous with the UK,” he said.
“Castrol’s always been a big sponsor of Toyota from years past, and it’s great to honour that.”
Rossi says Dewar has morphed into an ideal navigator for his rally exploits, given his experience in motorsport.
“Jim is pretty new to rally, but he’s been in motorsport for a long time, and he’s really enjoying it, coming along and helping out by reading the navigation for me,” he said.
“The car is looking alright and it’s running alright, so hopefully it holds up well for the entire night.”
