Maryborough set to battle Victoria Park this weekend
The Maryborough Soccer Club made its debut in the 2025 Ballarat & District Soccer Association competition last weekend, going down in an eventual 4-2 loss to Bacchus Marsh.

The home ground advantage served the Bacchus Marsh Scorpions well last Sunday, however Maryborough put up a strong fight across the full 90 minutes of play.
Getting their first sting off quickly, the Scorpions scored in the 14th minute through a Steven Tarantino goal which immediately placed Maryborough on the back foot.
The situation worsened for Maryborough as Samueal Dagnew scored in the 39th, rounding out a strong half for the home side.
All hope was far from lost for Maryborough however, with a second half resurgence seeing Brodie Pearse score 10 minutes into the second half.
While Daniel Gosev answered in the 59th minute for Bacchus Marsh, Maryborough’s Riley Gardam returned the favour with a cracking goal in the 72nd minute to see the scores sit at 3-2 with 18 minutes of play left.
Just four minutes later, Maryborough’s Callum Connor was red carded and sent off after receiving two cautions in the game, leaving Maryborough a man down with 14 minutes remaining.
Levelling the scores three all seemed an even more daunting task, and in the 87th minute a final goal from the Scorpions’ Henry Penn sealed the deal and final result.
It was a competitive match from Maryborough on the weekend and a result they’ll be looking to improve on against Victoria Park in Ballarat this weekend.
Maryborough currently sit seventh on the ladder, two ahead of Victoria Park, which may bode well heading into round two.
