The tournament held in Melbourne was the biggest in the history of the event, with the highest number of competitors.

The five local club competitors brought home three gold, three silver and five bronze medals.

Jose and Emily Carberry excelled in the freestyle self-defence event to secure gold each in their respective age divisions.

Noor Baharum won gold in her individual poomsae event and Brian Carr placed a close second for the silver in his event.

Heather Carr competed in her division against a multiple world champion, missing out by a margin of 0.70 to eventually secure the bronze after all rounds were completed.

The club also secured silver and bronze in pairs and teams events, with Jose Carberry securing bronze in individual Poomsae in a hotly contested large group of athletes.

Staci Jones and Heather Carr also officiated during the day as judges for the event along with many other judges from Melbourne clubs.

The event also included power-breaking events which saw competitors breaking multiple boards with their hands.

The majority of the clubs from Melbourne had a large contingent of participants, some of who were in the Australian team that compete internationally.

Brian and Heather Carr were pleased with the results of the day, in a highly contested event due to the larger participation numbers.

The club is now back in training for the upcoming state selections to be held in Melbourne on August 10, which is the qualifying selection tournament for the Australian National Championships in Adelaide in October later this year.
