Maryborough man becomes a millionaire after division one TattsLotto win this week
A local man will have a smile a mile wide after he received a life-changing phone call yesterday — with the Maryborough resident the latest division one winner to the tune of $1 million.
The local resident admittedly had to take a breather after the phone call left him gasping at the news of his million-dollar win in Wednesday night’s Weekday Windfall draw.
The regional resident held the only division one winning entry nationally in Weekday Windfall draw 4495 drawn on Wednesday, January 15, landing him a tidy $1 million.
Receiving the shocking news on Thursday morning, the elated winner asked for a call back in 30 minutes to regain his composure following the news, joking that he felt like he was about to have a “heart attack”.
“Thank you very much. I’ve had a bad run of luck, and this is the best thing to happen to me in a long time,” he told a representative from The Lott.
“I’m in shock. I think I’m starting to have a heart attack. I’ve got to calm down. I’m sitting here in shock.
“I usually check my tickets before 9 am but I had other things on my mind, and then you called and said you were calling from The Lott and immediately the penny dropped.
“The only reason why someone from The Lott would be calling is to tell you that you’ve won division one.”
The anonymous resident told The Lott he’d been playing the same numbers since switching to the Weekday Windfall, which was obviously a recipe for success.
“The very first ticket I had played in Weekday Windfall was a 50-game QuickPick, and I had a great win on it, so I’ve subscribed to the numbers and played them ever since. Now I’ve won $1 million,” he said.
“I once won $700 on a ticket, and I thought, ‘gee, that’s alright’.
“I think I’m going to spend the rest of the day in complete and utter shock. I’ll only tell a couple of close people when I’ve processed the news.
“This will be a massive boost to my life. I’ll remember this call for the rest of my life.”
His winning 50-game QuickPick was purchased on The Lott website — the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
The winning numbers in Weekday Windfall draw 4495 on Wednesday, January 15 were 20, 12, 4, 32, 35 and 23, while the supplementary numbers were 16 and 25.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Weekday Windfall draw 4495 — one in Victoria.
It’s the first major lottery win to land in the Mallee region for 2025 and continues a trend of locals winning big.
In November last year, a local man won almost $900,000 in TattsLotto draw 4517 after purchasing a ticket at Maryborough News & Lotto.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 268 so far in FY25, including 98 won by Tatts customers.
In FY24, Weekday Windfall (formerly Monday and Wednesday Lotto) created 99 millionaires across Australia.
During this time, there were 109 division one winning Weekday Windfall (formerly Monday and Wednesday Lotto) entries across Australia, which collectively won $108 million.
