The 2023 Maryborough Gold Cup ran on Sunday, September 17 drawing crowds to watch an exciting day of harness racing action, including pony races, the coveted Community Bank Gold Cup and the newly named Total Cool cup.

Victoria Cup champion Rock N Roll Doo claimed the Community Bank Maryborough Gold Cup in what was a day of thrills.

The five-year-old went out as the favourite and stuck to it, defeating Curly James and Narutac Prince.

Speaking to thetrots.com.au, driver and trainer Michael Stanley acknowledged the assistance he received from the Maryborough club last year.

“When we had all the rain last year leading up to the Victoria Cup campaign I couldn’t get on my track, so I rang the guys here at Maryborough and they prepared the track a couple of times so I could give him a decent hit-out,” he said.

The second biggest win on the track, the Total Cool Maryborough Trotters Gold Cup, went to the Jess Tubbs-trained One Over All, driven by Greg Sugars, who overcame a 30 metre back-mark to establish a track record.
