Maryborough gear up for second half of 2025
After some strong signs in the first half of the season, the Maryborough Soccer Club aims to continue its improvement in the Ballarat and District Soccer Association and finish the 2025 season strongly.
The blue and whites have had some great performances this season, with their undisputed highlight being their 2-1 victory away from home against the Creswick Cougars thanks to a brace from Julian Callea.
That fantastic result, coupled with their draw against Daylesford and Hepburn United has Maryborough sitting in ninth after eight games, as the blue and whites look to carry some extra momentum in the second half.
Maryborough was unfortunate not to earn some points in their last two fixtures against Ballarat and Forest Rangers, creating good chances against strong opposition.
A late goal in the first half halted the blue and whites momentum against Ballarat, leading to a 3-0 loss and they fought hard to keep
Forest Rangers to one goal, but just couldn’t find the net in their 1-0 defeat.
Their clinicalness in front of goal has been a constant issue for Maryborough recently, having been shut out in their last four fixtures.
After scoring six goals in the first four games, Callea will be keen to get back on the goal sheet very
soon, while Luke Bucknall, Brett Davey and Riley Gardam will be motivated to assist Callea with some goals.
After the King’s Birthday Weekend break, the blue and whites will resume their season with a home clash against top-of-the-table Ballarat North United.
That tough fixture starts a five-game home stand at Jubilee Oval for the blue and whites, with some winnable games against Bacchus Marsh, Creswick and Daylesford and Hepburn United in their next three fixtures after their match against Ballarat North United.
