CAMPBELLS CREEK 7.2 (44) def by MALDON 25.17 (167)

Maldon travelled over to Campbells Creek on Saturday and handed the Creekers a 123-point defeat.

Despite the massive defeat, Campbells Creek supporters would have to be happy the Creekers put up a solid effort, particularly in the first half when they scored five goals to be down by 44 points at the main break.

It was one way traffic for most of the second half, but the home team managed to score two goals in the final quarter and fought the game out.

The corresponding game in 2023 saw Creek only kick two goals for the game and Maldon scored a massive 254 points, so it is a marked improvement for the Creekers and hopefully a sign of things to come.

However, Maldon were still superior on the day and Brodie Leonard-Shannon again was amongst the goals kicking seven for the victors to head the MCDFNL goalscorers table with 14 goals, as the Bombers posted their second victory in succession.

Maldon’s better players were Alex Farrow, Matt Gray, Leonard-Shannon, Oliver Leonard-Shannon, Isaiah Hartley, and Brandon Carter.

Creek named Dylan Stevens, Joel Wootton, Hadley Bassett, Nicholas O’Brien, Kyle Gellatly and Mitch Stevens as their best players, with O’Brien and Wootton kicking two goals apiece.

Creek now shapes up to Dunolly next week and Maldon will do battle with neighbouring Newstead.
