In what might be the biggest upset of the A grade season so far, Maldon embarked on the trip to Navarre and came away with their second consecutive victory, scoring a 19-goal win over the Hoppers.

It was a result that could be a bitter blow to the Hoppers when all is said and done, with the result keeping them one game outside the top eight, and with unbeaten Carisbrook to come, their task to make the finals became a little tougher.

The Dons got the jump with a 13-goal to four quarter to finish off the first period leading by nine goals.

Navarre were able to hold on during the second quarter, but they weren’t able to make any significant headway on the margin, scoring eight goals to seven to reduce the lead to eight at the main break.

The third quarter saw the Dons effectively seal the game, scoring 12 goals, while holding Navarre to just three, seeing them open up a 17-goal final term lead.

The Dons were also able to finish the game off strongly, scoring 11 goals to nine to record a momentous win.

Ainsley Taft scored 24 goals for the winners, with Zoe Backway adding 19.

For Navarre, Erin Chisholm scored 14 goals.
