Maryborough’s best women’s footballers are set to make a mark in the Central Victorian Football League (CVFL) interleague squads, with one selection apiece in the senior and under 18 interleague squads.
In the senior team, local Quetta Holloway-Jinks, representing North Bendigo, has been selected to represent the senior squad.
While the Bulldogs are yet to win a game in the CVFL so far in 2024, Holloway-Jinks has had a supreme start to the season, kicking a goal in their round one loss to Woorinen, and has also been in the best players on three occasions from their five games so far.
Fellow local Ella Gourley has been selected in the under 18 CVFL squad, thanks to a good run of form both in the Bendigo Pioneers under 16 squad and also the CVFL with Golden Square.
From her opening four games of the campaign so far, Gourley has been named in the best once, while also kicking three goals to mark herself as one to watch up forward for a Golden Square team currently sitting in third place on the under 18s ladder.
The interleague carnival as part of the WorkSafe AFL Victoria Representative Games will be held on Sunday, May 19 at Junortoun, with the CVFL playing against the North East Border and Goulburn Valley teams.
