Rescheduling already underway for Silobration
2 min read

Avoca’s event to celebrate the completion of the town’s silo art project, set to be held last weekend, was postponed last minute, however works to reschedule are already underway.

Issuing a statement on March 31, just two days before the event scheduled for April 2, the Avoca Community Arts and Gardens Inc committee said the decision was made due to unforseen circumstances.

“It is with great disappointment to advise Silobration Under the Stars has been postponed due to circumstances beyond the control of Avoca Community Arts & Gardens, a volunteer run not-for-profit community association,” the committee’s statement read.

“Newly emerged health factors hold serious concerns and their impact has indicated the safe conduct of the event would be at risk.

“Work to reschedule the event is already underway and contact with all ticket holders can be anticipated shortly.

“Again, this decision is most regrettable, however we look forward to your attendance at the rescheduled event.”

Silobration Under the Stars was the official opening of the completed silo art project, which adds Avoca to the nationally renowned Silo Art Trail.

It was set to feature a number of music acts, including Australian singer Kate Cerbrano, as well as regional bands including The Jimmy Cupples Band and the Badloves.

Avoca Community Arts & Gardens president Hugh Forster said it was a tough decision to make.

“It was a terrible decision, but it was one we had to make,” he said.

“Our volunteer numbers were so thin on the ground that we couldn’t cover all of the requirements you need to comply with to ensure a safe event.

“There were a number of circum-stances which occurred out of our control, including a COVID scare.”

Mr Forster said the committee is currently going through the process of rescheduling the event.

“We’re looking at the last weekend of November or early December, or late January/ early February next year,” he said.

“All of the ticket holders have received a press release advising of the postponement and will receive further details in regards to the rescheduling of the event.”
