The Maryborough Anglican Church will once again be offering some incredible bargains at their bi-annual pop-up op shop.
The volunteer-run event will take place from Thursday, May 30 until Saturday, June 1, and will offer discounted prices on a range of garments, books, handbags, jewellery, CDs, toys and much more.
According to church volunteer Karen Aston, the event never fails to provide a great deal for all residents.
“We get all ages of people that come along and it has something for everyone,” she said.
“We have a lot of young mums with young children that come through and to see the look on their face when they have bags full of items for $5 is wonderful.
“We have elderly gentlemen we see every year who come to get a whole new wardrobe, there is another gentleman who has come for two years and he gets his Christmas presents for his grandkids.
“We had teenage girls come in last year and they were so excited that they were able to get 10 books for $1 — to see young people be excited about a book is just fantastic.”
All proceeds from the three days will go towards the church’s efforts across the community.
Ms Aston said the church prides itself on lending a hand to everyone in the community.
“We just want to be friendly faces for people in the community who might be going through a tough time or are seeking some support or someone to talk to,” she said.
“One of the things that we have in part of the building is our food pantry, we work in conjunction with Anglicare, so their clients can call us confidentially and ask for groceries.
“We know that there are a lot of people in our community that really do it tough from all ages so we want to be able to support them.
“People will also chat with volunteers and other shoppers when we run the op shop — there are so many people in a house by themselves so to give people that opportunity to have human connection is really important.”
Maryborough’s Anglican Church Pop-Up Op Shop will be open at the church hall on the corner of Nightingale and Clarendon streets from 10 am to 4 pm on Thursday, May 30 and Friday, May 31 as well as 9 am to 12 pm on Saturday,June 1.
