BREAKING: New COVID-19 case identified in Victoria

UPDATED:  Public health response is underway after a man who recently returned to Victoria tested positive for COVID-19 this morning.

The man, in his 30s, recently returned to Australia from overseas and undertook hotel quarantine in South Australia.

He returned to his home in Wollert, Victoria on May 4 and developed symptoms on May 8 — he was tested for the virus yesterday and returned a positive result today.

Further testing has been arranged to confirm the diagnosis however the case is being treated as positive.

The man is being interviewed and a list of exposure sites he has visited will be published once they are confirmed.

Victoria's Department of Health is urging anyone with COVID-19 symptoms to get tested immediately.

Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, chills or sweats, or change in sense of smell or taste.

Testing can be arranged at the Maryborough District Health Service's Fever Clinic by calling 5461-0362.

Initial exposure sites in Melbourne's CBD, Altona North and Epping have been listed as :

Tier 1 (Anyone who has visited a location listed as Tier 1 during these times must get tested immediately and quarantine for 14 days from the exposure)

• TIC Group, 232 Blackshaws Road, Altona North VIC 3025- Thursday, May 6 from 12.01 am to 11.59 pm

• Woolworths Epping, Corner of Cooper Street & High Street, Epping VIC 3076- Saturday, May 8 from 5.40 pm  to 6.38 pm

• Indiagate Spices and Groceries, U 14 C/560-590 High St, Epping VIC 3076- Thursday, May 6 from 5 pm to 6 pm 

• Curry Vault Indian Restaurant & Bar, 18-20 Bank Place, Melbourne VIC 3000- Friday, May 7 from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm 

Tier 2 (Anyone who has visited this location during these times is strongly encouraged to urgently get a test and isolate until they receive a negative result)

• 7-Eleven Epping, 705 High St & Cooper Street, Epping VIC 3076- Thursday, May 6 from 6.30 pm to 7 pm and Saturday, May 8 from 11.10 am to 11.40 am
