A local disability respite business has been named a finalist in the 2023 Victorian Community Achievement Awards.

Nominated in two categories last month, Wattle Tree Country Retreat has been announced as a finalist in the Konica Minolta Customer Service Award.

The business has boomed since opening in 2021 — including previously being nominated in the Business Achievement Award category last year — and offers respite and short term accommodation for people with disabilities, psychosocial disabilities and acquired brain injuries aged between 18 and 65 years old.

Located in Amherst, owner Chelsea Thompson provides opportunities for clients to interact with farm animals and participate in activities like bushwalking, camping and gold panning.

Victorian Community Achievement Award winners will be announced on December 1.
