NATTE BEALIBA 11.8 (74) def by HARCOURT 18.4 (112)
An incredibly accurate Harcourt came out on top by 38 points over Natte Bealiba in a topsy-turvy game of football.
The Lions burst out of the blocks in the first quarter, kicking four goals to one, and extended their lead to 50 points at half time after a further seven goals to two in the second quarter.
Natte needed a second half for the ages if they were to pull off any chance of victory, and responded in perfect fashion in the third quarter, kicking seven goals to three in an incredible burst which brought the Swans back to life. It meant that the margin was whittled down to 21 points at the last break.
But the Lions, like all champions do, warranted a response when needed, and was able to ice the game in the last quarter with four goals to the Swans’ one to eventually record their win.
The ability for the Lions midfielders to hit the scoreboard came to the fore once again on Saturday, recording 18 goals from their 22 shots on goal in the end.
Kal Huntly provided great drive throughout, and finished with three goals, while Cameron Anderson continues to be one of the more consistent goalkickers so far in 2023, adding four more to take his tally to 10 from three games.
Brayden Frost added a further two goals, while Mark Noonan, Kaleb McBride and Darby Semmens were also in the best players.
For Natte, goalkickers were not recorded, but Callum Harte, Jye Mortlock, Jordan Fraser, Emmet Smith, Austin McKenzie and playing-coach Trent Mortlock were all named in the best.
