Looking for a significant percentage booster, the Tigers got off to a strong start at Campbells Creek Recreation Reserve, managing five goals in the first quarter to build a 22-point buffer at quarter time.

Lexton’s Jaykeb Lench was dominating the ruck contest to start the match, allowing playmakers Jeff Debast, Lucas Blazko and Kobi Cheeseman first use of the football in the midfield.

Magpies’ ruckman James Martinovic began to hold his own in the second quarter, helping the hosts get the ball into the hands of Matthew Cox, James Haber and Dylan Stevens in the forward 50.

Caleb Mountford was the anchor in a Campbells Creek defence that allowed just one goal in the second quarter, with the Magpies booting two goals of their own to reduce the deficit to 16 points at half time.

The Tigers managed to wrestle back control of the contest to start the second half in another low-scoring quarter, with captain Lachy Rokebrand leading his side to restore a 23-point advantage in three-quarter time.

After a gruelling three quarters of football, the Tigers ran over the Magpies in the final term, mauling them with four fourth-quarter goals to put the icing on the cake of their victory.

Lexton had a host of goalkickers who stepped up on Saturday, with Jordan Madafferi, Patrick Gleeson, Jackson Kurzman and Pat Parr all booting multiple goals.

Lench, Rokebrand, Debast, Aiden Broughton, Blazko and Cheeseman were named as Lexton’s best players.

Haber built from his strong performance against Talbot, kicking three goals and was named among Campbells Creek’s best players alongside Cox, Martinovic, Mountford, Nicholas O’Brien and Stevens.
