Lexton’s 84 goal spree enough to conquer Dunolly
Lexton showcased why they are called the Tigers on Saturday, ambushing the Dunolly Eagles with 84 goals to earn the four points.

Dunolly’s Ashlee Lierich returned to the court after four weeks out, joining promoted B grade defender Taneisha Wrigley as the Eagles’ inclusions for the unavailable Lillie Wrigley and Cleo Lindsay.
The Tigers made no additions to their side following their loss to Natte Bealiba last week.
Dunolly connected with some fluent one-twos to keep pace with Lexton early, but the Tigers went on a 7-0 run midway through the first term to lead by 11 goals at quarter time.
Celebrating her 150th game for Lexton, Leesa Donhardt showed she hasn’t missed a beat, scoring 13 goals in the first quarter, Kristy Hadler kept her place at goal shooter after a strong showing against Natte and netted eight first-quarter goals.
Zoe Aldridge’s sharp movement in the goal circle got her in great positions for her teammates to give her the ball early, scoring nine goals while Lierich converted her only shot.
The Tigers’ offence unleashed their roar power after the quarter time break, with Donhardt and Hadler causing double trouble for the Eagles, combining for 20 goals in the second quarter.
After being shifted into goal keeper, Lexton’s Brodey McKay made some brilliant interceptions in the second period, limiting Dunolly’s chances to fight back as the Tigers extended their advantage to 20 by half time.
Aldridge and Lierich provided a consistent avenue of scoring for the Eagles, with Aldridge scoring six and Lierich netting five.
Even with McKay rested in the third quarter, the defensive pairing of Caitlin Howell and Sarah Griffin limited the Eagles to six goals for the term, allowing the Tigers to virtually wrap up the contest at three quarter time with a 35-goal lead.
Donhardt continued to light up the court, scoring 14 goals to start the second half while Hadler was just as effective with seven goals from nine attempts.
After being moved to goal shooter at half time to allow Lierich to shift into goal defence, Chloe Goodwin was effective in her new role, scoring all six of Dunolly’s goals in the third.
The Tigers finished the contest with a flourish, winning the fourth quarter 22-9 to complete their 48-goal victory.
Donhardt had her best performance of the season in her milestone game, netting 12 goals in the final quarter to finish with 50 goals. Hadler continues to make an impact for Lexton in A grade, ending with a game tally of 34 goals.
Goodwin made the most of her cameo as a goal shooter, recording five goals in the final 15 minutes while Lierich went four from five attempts after she was moved back to goal attack at three quarter time.
