Lexton marked club legend Kimberley Roberts’ 450th game with a strong 27-goal victory over the B.A Road Services Talbot Hawks at Lexton Reserve.

It was well and truly a day of celebration for the Tigers, who were able to set the tone from the outset.

They scored 18 goals to eight in the first quarter to take a 10-goal lead into the first change, with Rachel Phelan scoring on 11 occasions, while playing-coach Leesa Donhardt scored seven times, while for Talbot, playing-coach Eleisha Phelps scored five times and Tia Skelton three times.

The Hawks made some moves in the second quarter and were able to very much keep up with Lexton in what was an impressive quarter from them as they continue to show some improved form. Dom Roche scored seven goals for the quarter, and Phelps five, but the margin remained at 10 goals, with Donhardt scoring seven times for Lexton, and Phelan five.

It was the third quarter where Lexton stamped their authority and made sure the game would belong to them, with the Tigers scoring 22 goals to 10 to lead by 22 goals at the final change. Phelan scored 13 goals, while Donhardt added nine for Lexton, while Phelps scored on six occasions, and Roche four for Talbot.

The fourth quarter was a high-scoring, competitive affair as both clubs finished off the game well. Lexton were able to score 21 goals, with Phelan adding 14 for 43 goals for the day, while Donhardt added seven for 30 goals, while for Talbot, Skelton scored nine goals, while Roche added seven.

Talbot will receive their first points of the year when they have the bye in round four, while Lexton will face a big challenge in the undefeated Maryborough Giants at Hedges Oval.
