In a game of swings and roundabouts, it was Lexton who took a big step towards securing their spot in the top four with an important win against fellow top-four aspirant Dunolly.

The win means that the Tigers are now just two wins away from locking up the double chance.

A fast-starting Tigers outfit got the jump on Dunolly by scoring 13 goals to seven in the opening term.

But with the Eagles themselves looking to keep their own double chance hopes alive, they lifted their game in the second term to hit the front going into the long break, scoring 16 goals to eight to take a narrow two-goal margin.

But Lexton hit back in the third term to retake the lead, scoring 16 goals to seven to open up a seven-goal lead.

In a dour final quarter, the Tigers were able to outscore the Eagles eight goals to six to finish off nine-goal winners.

Rachel Phelan scored another 28 goals for the Tigers, while Leesa Donhardt added 17.

For Dunolly, Zoe Aldridge scored 22 goals, and Samantha Cheetham added 14.
