The new look Lexton, who have returned to wearing their old jumpers from the Lexton League days, put on a great show for their supporters to win a nail biter by four points over Maldon, in what was one of the games of the round.
In a low scoring opening term, the Tigers took the upper hand to lead by seven points at quarter time, and in basically what was a goal for goal game for the remainder of the contest saw the Tigers win a thriller.
The final quarter was a hard slog with only one goal apiece being scored by both teams. Maldon was attacking strongly but inaccuracy proved costly.
Sebastapol recruit, Tom Mc-Gregor, was positioned at full back for the Tigers and did an admirable job as he also matched up on former Berry Powell Medallist Hayden Kelly, who while he was named in the Bombers best players, was kept goalless for the game.
Bryce Karslake, and Aiden Broughton were others to play well in defence for the Tigers and Jimmy Templeton was rotating through the middle and half forward flank to give the Tigers forwards momentum.
It was a team effort for the goal scorers which were shared amongst seven players with Pat Parr kicking two goals for the home team.
Maldon’s new Eaglehawk recruit Damian Wust shone for the Bombers as did Matthew Gray and Callum Buchanan, and others to play well were Kelly, Jordan Collins and Brodie Leonard-Shannon.
The only multiple goal scorers were Seb Greene and Nick Pierce with two goals apiece.
