Lexton maintained their top four push, scoring a 28-goal victory over Dunolly to close the gap on fourth-placed Harcourt.
The final three quarters will have pleased the Tigers after Dunolly gave them food for thought with a strong opening quarter, and remain a good chance of taking the double chance right when it matters most as the final round of the home-and-away season looms.
The Eagles started the better of the two teams, scoring 11 goals to 10 to take a narrow lead at quarter time.
However, Lexton started to string their best form together, and an impressive defensive-minded performance saw them score 17 goals to the Eagles’ four in the second quarter to completely flip the script and lead by 12 goals at half time.
It was a similar story for the Tigers in the third quarter, as they scored 15 goals while holding the Eagles to only six for the term, which was enough to lead by 21 goals at the final change.
A 15-goal to seven final quarter allowed the Tigers to double the Eagles score as the game wrapped up, winning 56-28.
Julia Parkin, Caitlin Howell and Abbey Bell were Lexton’s best performers for the day, while Rachel Phelan scored 31 goals.
For the Eagles, Ashlee Lierich, Melanie Schodde and Briella Gibbs gave their all, while Samantha Cheetham scored 17 goals to lead the way.
