Twelve athletes travelled to the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre to participate in the championships, bringing eight golds, three silvers and four bronzes back to Maryborough.

Alayla and Bella Savvidis were the standouts for Team Lazaros, each earning a pair of gold medals.

Alayla had to work hard for her medals, losing her first match in the Juvenile Girls Gi competition before winning her next two matches by submission to claim Gold. She took home another gold after a nail-biting 7-6 point victory in the final.

Cruz Walker, Emma Miller, and Indy Mason also won golds in their respective categories, as Indy survived the semi-final via decision and commanded the final with a points victory.

In an interesting turn of events, teammates Jack and Charlie Ward faced off in the 13-year Boys Gi final. After a hard-fought contest, Jack prevailed with a points victory over Charlie to win the gold medal.

Fresh off her silver medal at the Savage Grappling event a fortnight ago, Bibby Montague collected another silver medal on Saturday, while teammate Johnny Mason also earned a silver.

Mickey Savvidis participated in four matches to earn his two bronze medals alongside Archie Mason and Whyatt Spink who also grabbed bronze medals.
