Carisbrook Lady Redbacks continue to build competitiveness, putting in a good effort against Darley, despite losing by 91 points.
The Lady Redbacks did well to hold the Devils to just seven goals after quarter time after conceding six in the first, and it was the first time the Lady Redbacks had held Darley to under 100 points since their return to the fold last year.
The aforementioned first quarter saw the Devils kick six goals from 14 scoring shots to lead by 44 points at the first change.
But to the Lady Redbacks’ credit, they were able to hold the Devils to two goals in the second term to limit the damage, with the Devils leading by 60 points at the main break.
The Devils had another good spell in the third term, scoring four goals to increase the lead to 89 points in the last change.
However, Carisbrook did exceptionally well to not only limit the Devils to one goal in the last term, but also hit the scoreboard themselves through Jade Cameron, with the final margin sitting at 91 points.
Anika Munn was industrious as ever, and was named as Carisbrook’s best, with Deanne Evans, Julianne Baldock, Tiani Jardine, Olivia Butler and Isabella Hoban also named in the best players.
In the under 16 competition, it was a big ask for Carisbrook as they came up against the dominant North Ballarat, but put in a respectable shift as they lost by 83 points.
The Roosters got the jump as they led by 33 points, but Carisbrook were able to do very well in the second term as they held the Roosters to just one goal, while kicking a point to trail by 39 points at the main break.
North Ballarat were able to hit the scoreboard in the third term, kicking three goals to lead by 62 points at the last change, and peppered the goals in the last term, but could only manage two goals from 11 scoring shots, as Carisbrook defended resolutely.
Tahlia Jordan was named as Carisbrook’s best, with Emme Johnson, Ava Bartlett, Laylah Smith, Eden Weaver and Olivia Rogers also named in the best players.
