Carisbrook gave a good account of themselves in their stand-alone Saturday fixture, greatly improving from their previous two games against Darley in losing by 113 points.

After losing two games against the Devils earlier in the season by in excess of 190 points, Saturday’s game gave the Lady Redbacks greater ammunition in their search for more competitiveness going forward.

The Lady Redbacks were able to get on the scoreboard with their first goal against the Devils this season, but Darley were able to kick six goals of their own to open up a 30-point lead at the first break.

The Devils well and truly took control of the game in the second term, kicking eight goals to no score in the second to move 81 points clear at the main break.

But Carisbrook finished off the game quite strongly, all things considered. They were able to hold Darley to four goals in the third term as the margin was 106 points at the final change, and then added their second goal of the day in the last term, while holding the Devils to just two goals, in an impressive finish.

No goalkickers were provided for Carisbrook at the time of production, but Julianne Baldock, Anika Munn, Tara Curtis, Sherriden Byrne, Olivia Butler and Cherie Reeves all put in impressive shifts for the Lady Redbacks, who will now have their final home game of the season on Sunday when they host Lake Wendouree.
