The Lady Redbacks were unable to get the start they wanted, conceding four goals in the first term, while scoring a single behind, to trail by 25 points at the first change.

But from there, the Lady Redbacks showed that they do have the ability to hang with the competition’s best, and their second quarter was a standout quarter in their season, kicking two goals to one to take the quarter and reduce the lead to 17 points at the main break.

Darley were able to hit back in the third term, kicking three goals to one in the term to open the lead back up to 32 points at the final change.

Carisbrook defended stoutly in the final term, but were also able to score the only two behinds of the last term to ensure they would take two quarters for the day, even if it meant the Devils took the points by scoring 8.5 (53) to 3.5 (23).

Olivia Butler, Tiani Jardine and Ashlyne McInnes continued their good form, while Julianne Baldock, Bonnie Smart and Jade Cameron completed the list of best players for the Lady Redbacks.

Caitlin Butler, Jardine and Tara Curtis were the goalkickers for the Lady Redbacks across the balance of the afternoon.

Carisbrook’s under 16s fought hard against the Devils, but were unable to prevent a 35-point loss.

It was the third quarter which provided much of the difference throughout the afternoon, with the Devils scoring three of their five goals to break away from Carisbrook.

Before that, however, the Lady Redbacks were well in the game, and trailed by 10 points at the main break, having prevented Darley from scoring in the second term.

Carisbrook were unfortunately unable to score, but it was a very respectable effort against the third-placed Devils, who won 5.5 (35) to no score.

Emme Johnson, Chloe Wyatt, Tori Taylor, Tess Lee-Conway, Remi Jardine and Georgina Bates were named in the best for Carisbrook.
