Just two more weeks remain for Carisbrook to take their second victory of the home and away season, with a tricky game against a Darley team looking to bounce back from a shock loss on the horizon this week at Darley Park.

The Devils were unable to defeat Bacchus Marsh last week, and will be hoping that they will be able to defeat a Carisbrook team that has been unable to score a goal since round eight.

Nevertheless, defensively, Carisbrook has performed well, and were able to hold Lake Wendouree to 35 points last week.

Carisbrook were quite competitive in the opening term, with the Lakers scoring just one goal at CE Brown Reserve to lead by 10 points at the first change.

However, two goals in the second term, followed by a goal in the third (among seven points) allowed the Lakers to clear out to a 35-point lead at the final change, before going scoreless in the last term to finish up winners.

The Lady Redbacks have continued to have their good performers this season.

Anika Munn earned her eighth nomination in the best players this season as the Lady Redbacks’ best player, while Olivia Butler earned her seventh mention in the best players.

Ashlyne McInnes also played well, as did Jade Cameron, Grace Brady and Sarah Lynch.

Carisbrook will be hoping to continue their gradual improvement against Darley this season.

In round three, Carisbrook performed well to hold Darley to three goals in each of the second and last terms, but the Devils were able to score 11 goals between the first and third quarters to win by 107 points.

The return meeting in round eight saw Darley get off to a storming start by kicking six goals in the opening term, but Carisbrook did well to limit the damage from there, only conceding seven more goals in the remaining three quarters, including just one goal in the last term, while Cameron was able to score the Lady Redbacks’ sole goal.

In the meantime, Carisbrook’s under 16s will have two more chances to secure their first win of the season, but will have a tricky task against third-placed Darley to get the job done.

The Lady Redbacks had a tricky assignment against the second-placed Storm last week, and were quite competitive after conceding four goals in the opening term.

That included winning the last quarter by holding Storm scoreless, although it was still a 56-point defeat.

Chloe Wyatt put in a good performance last week, as did Remi Jardine, Olivia Rogers, Georgina Bates, Tamika Loone-Grundy and Emme Johnson.

Carisbrook will now be hoping to put in a confidence boosting performance ahead of what’s likely to be their most winnable assignment next week when the Lady Redbacks play East Point at home.
