With the minor premiership secured, Laanecoorie Dunolly will focus on continuing their unbeaten streak when they travel to Carisbrook on Saturday.

Laane’s band were all back together with the return of talisman Luke Smith to the lineup last week, and in his brief 10-over stay at the crease, didn’t miss a beat alongside Sergio Rosier.

However, it was the bowling of Zach Graham which captured the headlines last week, which saw him claim a five-wicket haul and stamp his authority as one of the league’s most consistent bowlers.

There continues to be a cast of thousands in terms of the players that can step up for Laane, with the likes of Rosier, Joe Lovel and Daniel Romeo able to provide handy innings with the bat, while Matt Smith led the way two weeks ago in scoring 60 in a match-winning partnership with Romeo.

It looks likely that the battle for leading run-scorer could come down to this game, with both Luke and Carisbrook’s Dean Nalder battling for the title of most runs during the season.

At the moment, it’s in Nalder’s hands with 454 runs, compared to Luke’s 414, but while Nalder has batted in 15 innings, including his 65 last week against Beaufort, Luke has only taken nine innings to score his runs.

Regardless, this isn’t intended to be a sideshow, with plenty of players ready to step up with the bat for Carisbrook as well.

Cole Harris is one such example, having put it all together to score well throughout the game against Beaufort over the last two weeks, tallying 80 runs.

Martin Mark has also scored at will this season with 222 runs. Indeed, these two teams are the only two who have three batsmen score over 200 runs.

From a bowling standpoint, both respective teams will be relishing the challenge of getting key wickets, particularly with the amount of batting power on show.

For Laane, Graham’s haul of five last week allowed him to move into equal-third at the club alongside Rosier with 15 wickets, with Lovel’s 17 and Romeo’s 16 the key men in the race for their bowling title.

Nalder also leads Carisbrook’s bowling with 11 wickets, but Ritik Yadav is hot on his heels, having taken 10 wickets in two games, with two lots of five wickets.
