Fresh off their T20 success, Laanecoorie Dunolly will look to continue their winning ways when they face Colts Phelans in a one-day grand final rematch.

Laane continued their dominance with two victories last week, with different players stepping up in all facets of the game.

Captain Matt Smith has said he wanted to get more batting and bowling time into more players, and on Saturday, it was his time to shine at the crease, making an unbelievable 87 not out in a blockbuster innings which included eight fours and six sixes.

Luke Smith was the star of the show on the weekend, however, scoring 112 runs between both games and showing that he’ll be a hard man to stop once he gets going.

He now sits just one run behind Beaufort’s Lachlan Oddie on the run-scoring charts, while he has also been in form with the ball, taking seven wickets.

Joe Lovel had his best performance with the ball on Saturday, taking 4/37, while Daniel Romeo, Luke and Sam Bartlett did the damage on Sunday, taking two wickets apiece.

Colts may have lost on Saturday to Maryborough, but there was a silver lining in many players getting much-needed runs.

Luke Tatchell was one of them, starring with an unbeaten 58 as he anchored the innings. It was a welcome return to form after scoring 21 runs in the first six games of the season.

Dave Robinson has maintained the rage, scoring another 46 runs as he continued his consistent season up to this point.

Between Robinson and Rhys Wagstaff, the two have combined to score 377 runs this season, and will loom as important factors with the bat if Colts are to challenge Laane.

With the ball, Colts had a rare off day last week, taking just two wickets and conceding 263 runs.

It was a performance at odds with many of their efforts this season, having conceded 249 runs in their last two T20s, as well as just 60 in their previous meeting with the Owls.

However, Robinson, Dayne Baker and Nick Henderson will be given every opportunity to strike back this weekend and try put pressure on the Laane top order.

In their last meeting earlier this year, Laane’s consistent bowling was a thorn for Colts, who struggled to make 7/69 off their 20 overs.

In response, Luke batted well, making 34 as Laane chased down the target in 13 overs, finishing with 2/74.
