Laanecoorie Dunolly continued their winning ways, taking a nine-wicket victory over a gallant young Maryborough outfit.
Looking to take the game right to Laane, Maryborough won the toss and decided to bat.
It was the work of Tom Hart which got the Owls off to a hot start, as his 63 allowed them to rocket to 85 without loss, before Daniel Romeo struck for the first wicket of the day, luring him into playing a shot straight to Matt Smith.
Ben Hoban was joined by Mitch McClure at the crease, but the partnership was short lived, with Romeo taking his second wicket when he skittled Hoban’s stumps.
McClure and Logan Kirkwood put on 34 runs for the third wicket, but Sergio Rosier had the better of Kirkwood not long afterwards when he bowled him for 12.
An entertaining 26 from McClure was brought to an end when Rosier took his second wicket, and he would soon be on a hat-trick when he bowled Lachlan Bursill first ball to leave the Owls on 5/135.
Jackson Goodwin and James Scott put on a handy 16-run partnership, before Romeo had his third wicket, trapping Goodwin in front for 17.
Sam Bartlett was next in on the act against his former club, bowling Scott for 13 to get into the tail.
The last three wickets fell in relatively quick succession, with Steven Shovan run-out, Lachie Condie bowled by Joe Lovel, and Jacob Glen trapped LBW by Luke Smith as the Owls fell for 170.
It looked like a solid score for the Owls, however, as Laane continue to show, they are unperturbed by any challenge.
Smith, alongside Tom Hannett, looked to put the Owls on the back foot, and he made a quickfire 16 before Glen got into the game, luring him into playing a shot straight to McClure.
Bartlett and Hannett embarked on getting Laane home, eventually putting on a 153-run partnership to secure the win — the biggest of the season so far.
It was the only encounter between the two teams on the weekend, with the Owls forfeiting their T20 game against Laane on Sunday.
