PHIL HOOPER INSURANCE A GRADE CARISBROOK yet to bat v LAANECOORIE DUNOLLY 7/402
Laanecoorie Dunolly have underlined their dominance on day one of their clash with Carisbrook, scoring 402 runs from their 78 overs.
Luke Smith made his full return in style, claiming his first century of the season after scoring 108 runs, while further big scores to Sergio Rosier (94) and Zach Graham (89) also gave Laane a big advantage.
Smith and Sam Bartlett opened for Laane, and the duo put on 95 runs in quick time before Bartlett was the first to go, trapped in front for LBW by Ritik Yadav.
Carisbrook seemed to have a way back into the game when Yadav took a second quick wicket, bowling Joe Lovel for a duck.
But Smith and Rosier then combined for another big partnership which took the steam out of Carisbrook’s fightback, combining for a 91-run stand which saw Smith bring up his 100.
However, he was next to go, brought undone by Dean Nalder for 108 in what was a fine innings.
Yadav, shortly after, had his third wicket of the day, bowling Ben Gunn for four.
Rosier and Matt Smith put together a 58-run stand, with the former close to a century before he was bowled on 94 by Atticus Cullinan — the third occasion during the week Rosier had been dismissed within sight of a century.
Matt and Graham soon combined for another good partnership, putting on 86 runs, but Matt was then dismissed caught and bowled by Nalder.
Daniel Romeo was Nalder’s third wicket shortly after, similarly caught and bowled.
Graham and Nathan Leist finished the day off strongly, bringing up 400 in the last over, with Graham unbeaten on 89 and Leist finishing unbeaten on 11.
Nalder capitalised with late wickets to finish on 3/56 off 15 overs, while Yadav’s 20 overs yielded figures of 3/84.
