REDPATH TYRE AND BATTERY SERVICE A RESERVE
Laanecoorie Dunolly and Clunes look to be doing the early running after two rounds of the A reserve season, with plenty more set to be learned this week as round three approaches.
Clunes def Talbot via forfeit
The grand final rematch sadly wasn’t played, with Talbot forfeiting their match against Clunes, due to be played on Bull Millgate Oval, on Saturday afternoon.
Colts Phelans 137 def by Maryborough 189
Maryborough scored their first victory of the A reserve season after duly delivering a 52-run victory over Colts Phelans at Hedges Oval.
The Owls had some handy returns from each of their top five batsmen, with Ben Hoban (15) and Lachlan Bursill (33) giving the Owls a good start with a 53-run partnership, before Bradey Tranter’s 53 allowed them to dictate the pace as they made 189.
Grant Rogers took 3/25 for Colts, while Bayden Macintyre took 2/30 and David Forde 2/31.
With the ball, Liam Maffescioni guided the early stages of the innings to help the Owls get off to a flyer, leaving Colts in serious trouble at 4/24, before they were later 6/43.
But with good knocks from Dean Walker (32) and Daniel Vadala (25), Colts were able to make 137 before they were bowled out with seven overs still remaining.
Maffescioni set the tone with his 3/14, while Jasper Trickey was also among the wickets, taking 3/33.
Carisbrook 2/88 def Beaufort 70
It was a dominant performance from Rohan Mackay which allowed Carisbrook to take a dominant eight-wicket victory over Beaufort at Carisbrook Recreation Reserve.
Mackay took six of the first seven wickets to help himself to the outstanding figures of 6/19 off eight overs, which included two maidens, as he dominated against the Crows’ top order.
Harrison Jones provided some good resistance in making 20 runs, but it was a big struggle for the Crows, who were simply no match for Mackay’s bowling.
Elliot Cullinan was dominant with the bat, scoring 45 runs to allow the Brookers to make the target easily, while there was also some good form from Josh Nalder, with the youngster making a quickfire 14 to finish the game.
Nathan Elford and Noah Scofield were Beaufort’s two wicket-takers.
Laanecoorie Dunolly 2/130 def MKM 6/129
Laanecoorie Dunolly made it two from two as they defeated MKM by eight wickets.
The Mill, playing their first game of the season, were able to bat through their overs, showing some good discipline with the bat as they look to continue to improve.
Jithin Aby Thomas top-scored with 41 runs, while there were also handy knocks from Tristan Tack (18) and James O’Connor (15).
Callum Liddicoat continued his good start for Laane, taking 2/22, while Steven Dellavedova was incredibly efficient in conceding just 11 runs from seven overs, which included three maidens.
Laane cruised to the target in 25 overs, with Brad McHugh unbeaten on 34 and Dellavedova unbeaten on 28, while Nathan Leist (28) and Paul Waddington (21) also contributed.
Muhammad Haseeb Khan led the way with 1/16 off four overs.
Round 3
Hopes of getting all four games going will be the goal for round three.
The Mill will be looking to continue to set a marker for themselves to improve when they meet another expected premiership contender in Maryborough at Ron Sinclair Oval.
MKM were successful in keeping the Owls honest last season, and they’ll be hoping to keep things close again.
Laanecoorie Dunolly and Beaufort will do battle at True Blue Floors Oval, with the leaders already looking good in their return to A reserve, while the Crows will be hoping to get some more time at
the crease this time around with the bat.
Clunes and Colts Phelans meet at Bull Millgate Oval, with the Magpies looking forward to getting back on the park after missing out last week, while Colts will be keen to rebound after last week’s loss to Maryborough.
After forfeiting last week, Talbot will be out to kickstart its season as they host Carisbrook at Talbot Recreation Reserve.
The Brookers come into this one with their confidence-boosting victory, which followed a good first-up effort against Clunes.
