Juventus, one of Italy and Europe’s premier soccer clubs with a record 36 Serie A titles and two Champions League trophies, founded Australia’s first Juventus Football Academy aimed at instilling young players with confidence in their skills and personal development.

Maryborough Soccer Club president Sami McClelland said a newly formed relationship with the academy opened the door for the visit.

“One of our junior players already attends their academy in Melbourne and we developed a relationship with them through that,” she said.

“We chatted with them and decided it would be a good opportunity for regional kids.”

The training session, held at the Park Road soccer fields, is open for all juniors between the ages of 7-16.

According to McClelland, the session is an exciting coup for Maryborough, as the club looks to add more experiences for local kids to enjoy.

“It provides an initiative for player development for our kids that may want to participate,” she said.

“It’s very important because it’s exposing them to more accredited coaches and it’s providing an academy that they usually have to go to Melbourne to see.

“Bringing that to regional Victoria is quite a big deal.”

The Juventus Academy Melbourne guest training session will be held this Thursday with a session for players aged 7-11 starting at 4 pm and players aged 12-16 training at 5 pm.
