Starting today, the Central Goldfields Shire Council (GGSC) is offering a jam-packed Spring Holiday Program of 14 activities across nine locations — with many free to enter.

The range of activities are open to toddlers, teenagers and young adults and includes sea crafting, a soccer clinic and painting.

A sure highlight this spring, Melbourne-based CARP Productions will come to town on Tuesday, October 1 to perform Space Adventure, a quest to find the sun and return it to the solar system at the Dunolly Senior Citizen’s Hall at 10.30 am and Mirror Mirror, where residents of Fairytale Land are competing for the Fairest of Them All from the Maryborough Library at 1.30 pm.

Also a part of the festivities, the Maryborough Toy Library is hosting three Stay and Play events at 12-22 Nolan Street for kids to enjoy their 800 plus toys — including one event marking the 40th anniversary of the community group.

The fun will wrap up at the Maryborough Paramount Theatre with a free screening of Runt, a story about 10-year-old Annie trying to save the family farm with the help of a stray dog, held on Sunday, October 6 starting at 11.30 am.

CGSC Community Wellbeing general manager Emma Little hopes local families come and join in the fun these school holidays.

“We have a mix of creative, informative, and active events programmed, allowing kids, whatever their interest to engage, not only with the program, but hopefully also with other attendees,” she said.

“We want to make the program as accessible to as many people as possible and know that keeping kids entertained can get expensive.

“By providing a varied program of activities, we hope to encourage as many families as possible to come and share in the school holiday fun.

“Having just finished cheering three family members on through a long cold season, I am excited to see the opportunity for others to sharpen their skills with the soccer clinic on Thursday, September 26.”
