Investigations surrounding Avoca crash continue

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash in Avoca last week.

Officers have been told the crashed vehicle was spotted off to the side of the Pyrenees Highway, by a passing motorist, on Thursday, January 16 at about 2.30 am.

It appears the driver of the white Toyota Corolla was travelling north on the Pyrenees Highway, between the two junctions of Porcupine Lane, when he appears to have lost control and crashed.

At this stage it is believed the crash may have occurred sometime between 9 pm on Wednesday, January 15 and when discovered by the passing motorist.

Sadly the 79-year-old driver from Amphitheatre was found deceased at the scene.

There have been 17 lives lost on Victorian roads so far this year, compared to 16 lives lost at the same time last year.
