Community members interested in finding out more about the Victorian Goldfields World Heritage Bid and its potential impact on the shire can do so at an information session next Tuesday.

The session will detail what a World Heritage listing means for local businesses and activities, and the benefits it would bring.

Session-goers will hear from representatives from the Goldfields World Heritage Bid team.

The Central Goldfields Shire is one of 15 local governments involved in the bid to get significant gold rush era sites on the World Heritage List, which bidders say would bring long-lasting economic benefits and world recognition to communities across the goldfields region.

The bid has also been backed by former Victorian premiers Denis Napthine and John Brumby, and funding from the State Government.

The Goldfields World Heritage Bid session will be held next Tuesday, May 21 from 5.30 to 6.30 pm in rooms 1 and 2 at the Community Hub on 48 Burns Street, Maryborough.

For more information on the bid visit https://goldfieldsworldheritage.com.au.
