Initiated by the Beaufort Progress Association Inc, the Farmgate Trail has been developed with the generous assistance of the committee for the popular Otway Harvest Trail, which has been operating for more than 10 years and features 150 farm gates throughout three shires.

The increasing popularity of farmers markets reflects the discernment of shoppers about where and how food and produce is made. The benefits of the farm gate trail are two-fold. Not only will it bring much valued tourists to the area, it enables visitors to establish true provenance over items they buy while enjoying the beautiful environment of the Pyrenees.
