Highland Society to support fire affected town, local fire brigades
Maryborough Highland Society are dedicating the whole of February to raising money for local fire brigades and the fire affected community of Harcourt.

Maryborough Highland Society are supporting local fire brigades and Harcourt fire relief with a fundraiser this Friday and throughout the month of February.
The organisation recently announced they are not only holding a community night fundraiser this Friday, but will donate $1 from every main meal sold for the month of February.
Dubbed the Dine and Donate initiative, the community are invited to show their support by taking part in Friday’s community night or by buying a main meal at the Highland Society this month.
At the end of the month money raised will be evenly split between the Goldfields Group’s fire brigades, to assist with essential equipment purchases, and The Harcourt Fire Relief Fund, to support fire affected communities.
Maryborough Highland Society president Garry Coburn said it was a way for the organisation, who regularly holds community fundraisers, to give back.
“Our local brigades and neighbouring communities have faced enormous pressure this fire season. This is our way of standing beside them and helping ensure they have the resources they need, both now and into the future,” he said.
“We encourage people to support the people from Harcourt and our local fire brigades.”
Mr Coburn hopes, with the community’s support, to raise thousands of dollars to support the two groups.
“It’s big dollars,” he said.
In addition, collection tins will be placed around all bar areas for those wishing to make an extra contribution.
This week’s Happy Hour on Friday, February 6, will hold a raffle where all proceeds will be donated to the same cause.
The Maryborough Highland Society encourages the community to get behind the initiative, enjoy a meal, and help support those who protect and serve the region during some of its most challenging times.
