Maryborough District Health Service’s Health and Movement Centre has made the move to High Street to make way for the $100 million hospital redevelopment.

The centre is now located in the former Maryborough Westpac building, with allied health services such as exercise physiology, physiotherapy and group exercise programs now operating at the new location.

MDHS director of infrastructure, technology & experience and deputy CEO David Edwards said minor refurbishments have been completed at the High Street site, making way for works on the hospital redevelopment which will be completed in several stages over the next few years.

“The Maryborough Hospital redevelopment promises to transform health services in the region,” he said.

“Early works and site preparations started in June, and it’s our intention to keep services running as smoothly as possible during the build over the next few years.

“We are working closely with the project team and builders to minimise disruption to services, staff, patients and the broader community.

“We’ve just completed minor refurbishments to install the gym, consulting suites and staff offices at the new location.

“At the same time we’re working with regional contractors SJ Weir to refurbish the former site at the hospital to relocate family services as part of the early works.”

The Health and Movement Centre is now located 107-111 High Street, Maryborough.

The new entrance to the centre is located at the rear of the building, with access via the public carpark, just off Clarendon Street.

This is next door to Priceline Pharmacy and across the road from the Maryborough Magistrates Court.
Entry is by appointment only.

Group exercise programs and health coaching programs will continue to run at various locations in the community.
