Talbot’s first goal came at the seven-minute mark when Brandon McRedmond hand-passed to Jamieson House, who goaled on the run.

McRedmond was having a lot of influence and sent the ball forward on numerous occasions, but the Hawks’ forwards were just blazing away, with seven behinds scored in succession.

Jarrod Stephens then snapped truly from the goal square for the Hawks to lead at quarter time by 20 points.

It was goal for goal in the second term, and Maldon were able to kick three goals through Natnael McLaren with two goals, and Ashley Woodman.

Talbot responded when Charles Aitken and Stephens combined to kick the final two goals of the second quarter for Talbot to lead at half time by 35 points.

It was all Talbot in the third term, with Kirk Lang goaling inside a minute from the centre bounce.

Stephens then tricked everyone when lining up for a shot on goal from the boundary, pulling his kick so an unmarked Zac Cicchini could mark and kick one of his five goals for the game.

The Hawks led at the final change by 50 points and had the game in the bag.

Talbot ran out comfortable winners, but it was an interesting finish to the game when Woodman was awarded a 50-metre penalty, which took him to the goal line and a goal resulted from his kick.

Five minutes later, the exact same scenario presented itself, allowing Woodman to score the final goal of the game.

House was in everything and was named as the Hawks’ best player, others to be named were Aitken, Lang, Cicchini, Darcy Osborne and Jude McGuire.

Callum Buchanan gave his all for the Bombers, as did Darcy Kelly, Woodman, Max Johns, Damian Wust and Billy Johns.
