It was a big victory for Talbot on Saturday at home when they demolished the Maryborough Giants by 80 points.

The Giants were only competitive in the first quarter when they kicked two of their three goals for the game.

It was basically one way traffic for the remainder of the game as the Hawks’ Jude McGuire had another great day breaking through the lines with his run and carry.

Luke Kemp was also a difficult match up through the middle as he has been in recent games.

Adam Scott was the key focal point up around the sticks and the big forward slotted six for the game to tale his season tally to 41 goals.

It was a very disappointing finish to what promised to be a great first season for the Giants. A high injury list has not been helpful, but they will now be looking for a new start under a new coach and will be hoping to recruit strongly over the off season and head up the ladder.

It’s also the end of the season for the Hawks, who, despite the result, were eliminated due to Newstead’s comfortable victory over Campbells Creek.

Phil Crouch, who earlier announced he would step down at the end of the season, was able to finish his tenure with a victory.

Talbot named their better players as McGuire, Kemp, Scott, Jayson Atkins, Trent Severino and Rhys Egan.

The Giants were served well by Archer Patterson, Cody Wright, Ryan Howell, Kieran Johns, Beau Govan and Matt Walker.
