Have your say on projects
Mount Alexander Shire Council is inviting community members to have their say on three important initiatives now open for engagement via Shape Mount Alexander.
The projects include the Draft Council Plan 2025-2029, the future use of the Wesleyan Church and Newstead flood mitigation options.
Mount Alexander Shire mayor Rosie Annear, said the projects reflect local priorities and aspirations.
“We’re excited to hear from our community about how these projects can shape the future of our Shire,” she said.
“It’s important to us that we ask for input before making decisions, and that we have an ongoing conversation with our local community members about what they want and need.”
Council received feedback from more than 1100 residents between February and April 2025 to help shape the Draft Council Plan 2025-2029. This document outlines the strategic priorities and focus areas that will guide council’s decisions and efforts over the next four years.
“We’re asking residents to tell us if we’ve got it right and if there are any gaps,” Cr Annear said.
Council is also seeking ideas and suggestions on how to activate the restored Wesleyan Church in Chewton, ensuring it serves both local needs and broader Shire aspirations.
In Newstead, residents are invited to provide feedback on proposed flood mitigation options, developed to reduce the long-term impacts of flooding across the community.
All three engagement opportunities are open now on Shape Mount Alexander at www.shape.mountalexander.vic.gov.au, Council’s online hub for community consultation.
