Maryborough local Aidan Hare has signed on for a second season with Peel Thunder in the Western Australian Football League (WAFL) for 2024.

The signing was announced on their social media pages on Friday, with the midfielder making an instant impact as he pushed for senior selection.

While injury played a part in him playing just nine games in the WAFL reserves competition in 2023, Hare’s ability to win the football in the midfield stood out, as well as his ability to play a defensive role at the contest.

Hare averaged 21.4 disposals and an impressive 7.2 tackles throughout the season.

Highlights included a terrific display in round three against South Fremantle, which yielded 35 disposals and eight tackles in a best on ground performance, while Hare was again named in the best in Peel’s round five win against Swan Districts, collecting 24 disposals and laying 14 tackles, leading all-comers on the ground.

It showed Hare’s penchant for adapting from playing at Bendigo Football Netball League level to state-league football, having averaged 38.2 disposals in 2022 with Maryborough.
