Harcourt led the charge into the first quarter of play at Campbells Creek Recreation Reserve on Saturday, making the most of the new facilities to take a six-point lead, 17-11 over the home side.

The Lions maintained this margin in the second quarter, with the scores reading 20-26 at the half time bell thanks to the accurate shooting of Harcourt’s Suzie Rinaldi, Jordan Bagley and Gemma Papadimos, all shooting at above 70 percent accuracy.

Harcourt certainly bared their teeth returning after the half-time break, with the match appearing to be all said and done as the away side added a swag of 11 goals to their score while holding Creek to just eight goals.

With the scores reading 28-37 coming into the final quarter of play, it seemed Harcourt had earned themselves a competitive but powerful win over Campbells Creek.

However, the home side well and truly showed up in the final quarter in what turned into a high-scoring back and forth melee.

Creek’s Elouise Jones showed dominance under the ring as goal shooter, scoring 34 goals from 41 attempts to sit at an 82 percent conversion percentage, this saw Campbells Creek increase their score by 18 goals to 46 at the final siren.

With strong albeit inaccurate shooting from Jemma Finning, who added a further 12 goals from twice as many shots, the home side looked to be a comeback chance in the fourth, but Harcourt dug deep.

Scoring 12 goals of their own in the final quarter, Harcourt were rewarded for their consistent play across all four quarters, earning their first win of the 2025 season.
