MARYBOROUGH ROVERS 3.13 (31) def by HARCOURT 14.13 (97)

Rovers and undefeated Harcourt met at Barker Oval Princes Park on Saturday and it was a very entertaining and competitive game until half time when the Rovers were only down by 11 points. However, the second half was where the Lions put the foot down to run out winners by 66 points.

It was the Lions’ running players such as Darby Semmens and Kalan Huntly that got them up and about, as they ran away in the second half of the game and keeping Rovers to just one goal and seven behinds after half time.

After a surprise victory over Newstead the week before, Rovers went into the game full of confidence and were holding their own against top quality opposition, but it was too much to maintain.

Harcourt named their better players as Semmens, Kaleb McBride, Huntly, Kristian Bruce, Kyle Hamilton, and Bronson Martin, with Bruce and Martin kicking three goals each.

Rovers listed their best as Joel Radlof, Marshall Murray, Jacob Dyer, Montgomery Reeves, Joseph Smith, and David Le Poidevin.
