Harcourt won a low-scoring encounter against Maldon to get their season back on track after three straight losses to open the season.

It was a much-needed response for the Lions, while the Dons now fall to 0-4.

A nine-goal to three first quarter gave the Lions a six-goal cushion at the first break, and then they were able to extend it in what turned out to be the highest scoring quarter of the day, with the Lions scoring 12 goals and Maldon seven.

A scrappy third quarter followed as the rain took hold, with the Lions scoring five goals to four to increase their lead to 12 goals at the final break, before scoring another 10 goals to three to finish 19-goal winners.

Kate Blake scored 21 goals, while Tayla Gale added 15 for the Lions.

Maldon were well served by Theresa Buchanan, who scored 11 goals.
