Dunolly has been riding a high over the last few weeks with four wins in succession, but Harcourt brought the Eagles crashing back to earth on Saturday at Deledio Oval with an 87-point loss.

The Eagles were gearing up for a potential finals placing but the weekend’s loss to Harcourt has relegated the side to ninth with just two rounds left to go.

Harcourt was on from the first bounce, kicking seven goals to two to lead by 33 points at the first change.

A more evenly matched second term was contested, with Dunolly restricting the Lions to just three goals, however, they couldn’t make any inroads on their deficit, trailing by 39 points at half time.

Harcourt rushed towards triple figures in the third term, kicking four goals to one, as the margin ballooned out to an even 10 goals at the final change.

In the end, the Eagles found another two goals but the Lions let loose with a six-goal closer which extended the final margin to 87 points.

Brayden Frost and Jed Rodda were an absolute nightmare for Dunolly, kicking seven goals apiece and both claiming votes alongside Darby Semmens, Lachlan Mitchell, Kayne Davidson and Jordan Gartside.

In the face of a crushing loss, Connor Shephard, Bailey Goodwin, Lachlan Tranter, Jamie Townsend, Luke Crowley and Xavier Ryan fought hard for the Eagles with Ryan kicking three goals and Goodwin kicking two.

Dunolly has two tough games as they look to move back into the top eight, meeting Lexton and then Avoca, while Harcourt will be looking to cement its top four status with Maryborough Rovers and Newstead up ahead.
