HARCOURT 12.14 (86) def NATTE BEALIBA 9.7 (61)

Harcourt completed an undefeated home and away campaign by defeating Natte Bealiba in a hard-fought battle by 25 points.

It was an interesting encounter going in, with the knowledge that a Harcourt victory would mean that both teams would play one another again in the first qualifying final. How much each team will have taken out of this clash, therefore, will be interesting.

The Lions made a strong start, kicking four of the first five goals of the game to take a 20-point lead going into the first break.

However, Natte picked up their game in the second term, kicking four goals, while holding Harcourt to two, to reduce the margin to seven points at the main break.

In their last meeting, the third quarter was the Swans’ domain as they kicked seven goals to threaten the Lions, but there were no such threats this time around as the Lions dominated a large portion of play in the third quarter, scoring three goals from 10 scoring shots, while holding the Swans to one goal, to extend their lead to 24 points at the final change.

The Lions successfully held the Swans at arms’ length throughout the final term, with both teams scoring three goals.

Jed Rodda and Baxter Gurd kicked four goals apiece for Harcourt, while Kaleb McBride, Darby Semmens, Lachlan Mitchell, Jonte O’Neil, Kal Huntly and Cameron Anderson were all named in their best.

For Natte, Jye Mortlock continued his outstanding season, kicking two goals and being named their best player, while Jayden Templeton was the other multiple goalkicker. Daniel Vadala, Austin McKenzie, Jordan Fraser, Brady Templeton and Stephen Ross were all named in the Swans’ best.
