Avoca travelled to Harcourt hoping to make amends for their opening round loss to Rovers, but were beaten convincingly by the Lions by 158 points, who unfurled their senior flag for the first time in 16 years to the faithful.

The Lions were a different unit to the team that were nearly beaten by Lexton the week before as they jumped out of the blocks with 14 scoring shots to two in the opening term, but for inaccuracy, could have been further ahead than the 27 points on the scoreboard.

A 10-goal second term to the home team underlined their continued excellence as Kal Huntly lived up to his reputation, dominating play and leading the way for the Lions.

The Lions continued to dominate in all aspects of play in the second half as they celebrated their big day, kicking seven goals to one in the third quarter to move ahead by 131 points, before adding a further four goals to three behinds in the last quarter to eventually finish big winners.

Berry Powell Medalist, Brayden Frost, produced another high-class game giving first use to the midfielders such as Huntly and Cameron Anderson, who kicked three goals to add an offensive bite to his game, and others to be named in the Lions best players were Darby Semmens, Thomas Walters, and Luke Anderson with Bronson Martin kicking five goals.

Cody Lubeek tried hard for the Bulldogs as did Bryce Howell, Daniel Howell, Tyson Cope, Shannon Moyle, and Jaye Farnsworth.
